System Requirements
Check that your computer meets these requirements before you install Gety.
Gety uses few hardware resources for basic file search. Semantic search and OCR use local AI models, so faster hardware improves performance. You need an internet connection when you first install Gety or enable semantic search, OCR, or CUDA acceleration. After the required components are downloaded, Gety can run completely offline.
Windows requirements
Gety supports 64-bit (x64) Windows computers. Windows on ARM isn't currently supported.
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10, 64-bit | Windows 11, 64-bit |
| Processor | Dual-core x64 processor | Quad-core x64 processor or better |
| Memory | 8 GB | 16 GB |
| Graphics | No dedicated GPU required | NVIDIA GTX 1660, RTX 20 series, or newer |
| Free storage | 2 GB | 5 GB or more |
The installer detects and installs required components such as Microsoft Edge WebView2. Windows 11 includes WebView2. On some Windows 10 computers, the installer needs an internet connection to download it.
Enable CUDA acceleration
CUDA acceleration is optional and off by default. You can turn it on in Gety's hardware acceleration settings if your computer has:
- An NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660, RTX 20 series, or newer GPU with CUDA Compute Capability 7.5 or later. GTX 10 series and older GPUs aren't supported.
- NVIDIA driver version 527.41 or later.
- At least 1 GB of available GPU memory. For large OCR jobs, 6 GB or more provides a more stable experience.
You don't need to install the CUDA Toolkit or cuDNN. Gety downloads the required CUDA 12.8 and cuDNN 9 components the first time you enable acceleration. If acceleration can't start, Gety automatically uses the CPU instead, without affecting available features.
macOS requirements
Gety supports Intel and Apple silicon Macs running macOS 10.15 Catalina or later.
| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | macOS 10.15 | macOS 13 or later |
| Processor | Intel or Apple silicon | Apple silicon, M1 or later |
| Memory | 8 GB | 16 GB |
| Free storage | 2 GB | 5 GB or more |
On Apple silicon Macs running macOS 13 Ventura or later, Gety automatically uses Core ML acceleration through the Apple Neural Engine. No setup is required. Intel Macs and Macs running an earlier macOS version use the CPU with the same features.
Linux requirements
Gety provides .deb and AppImage packages for x86_64 computers. Ubuntu 24.04 and later are officially supported.
- Install the
libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0system dependency before using the.debpackage. The package doesn't install this dependency automatically. - Other distributions with
libwebkit2gtk-4.1, including Ubuntu 22.04 or later and Debian 12 or later, may work but aren't officially tested. - GPU acceleration isn't currently available on Linux. Gety uses the CPU, so a dedicated GPU isn't required.
